"Conviviality & Caring" - Our Motto!

If you've been a Mason for more than a few months, you may think you know the routine - but here, it's different.

As an officer of Seminary Hill Daylight Lodge, you are expected to be the personification of all our values. Every lodge officer is valued and they have a responsibility to exemplify our motto of 'Conviviality and Caring'. Translated, this means that you don't go off in a little clique with Brethren you know but rather, reach out to the hand of someone you haven't really met. Masonry is about Brotherhood yet far too often, we get comfortable being with just those from our own circle. Here, it's different! Every member of this lodge should know every other member and our officer corps has a particular duty to encourage and support this aspect of our Lodge.

You will be expected to know your ritualistic part. While we don't expect to do a lot of degrees, it is IMPERATIVE that those doing the work create a lasting impression on the candidate: one he will proudly recall the rest of his life. To that end, we expect you to advise the Master WELL in advance if you don't think you're going to be 'up to snuff' for a degree. We do degree work for the candidate: he's entitled to the best!

Every lodge officer will be expected to have the following:

  1. An officer's sash (obtainable at the cost of $25, said amount to be repaid to you by your successor in office)
  2. Two white polo shirts with the lodge logo  (one always clean and available to slip into before lodge meetings) *

These are the officer's 'uniform' when at a lodge meeting. Clean slacks would be great but if you're out working construction, we'd rather have you stop in than pass us by because your pants might be dirty.

Officers will also be expected to have a blue blazer, white shirt, grey slacks, dark tie (until we get some lodge neckties made), dark shoes, dark socks. This will be the standard lodge 'uniform' when attending functions such as funerals, presentations, hospital visitations, etc. if at all possible. We'd like the officers to have a look of solidarity as shown in their clothing. We plan to get mourning armbands for when we attend funerals or wakes together.

Officers will show Freemasonry in their daily lives and conduct themselves in a manner which will bring a tongue of good report to our lodge and to our fraternity. Should we ask anything less?

*We'll have ordering information on the polo shirts in the very near future.
